The Good, The Bug and The Ugly

Good bug!

1. Lady Beetles: Some species are considered to be pests, but in general, they feed on other insects, including insects that eat plants, making these a good bug.

On Another Note

Here at Brussell, we aren't all work and no play. Over the weekend, the Brussell Blogger picked up his vintage 1972 Husqvarna WR 450 from the shop. That's a motorcycle, not a garden tractor. Bike runs great, but still needs a chain. So now the Blogger has two motorcycles that are just a stone's throw away from rideable. Someday, the Blogger will actually ride his motorcycles. The other motorcycle isn't actually a motorcycle, but is an ATV (with motorcycle handlebars). Specifically, it is a Yamaha Raptor 660, which the Blogger believes needs a new rocker arm to drive the intake valve. ARG ! The Raptor, by the way, might well have been included in our list of 10 most bug like cars. It certainly looks like a bug. We will have photos of the bikes for you soon.

Cockroaches Can Trigger Allergies

American cockroaches are the largest of all cockroaches and can grow up to two inches in length.

The National Pest Management Association (NPMA) warns families that cockroaches are a leading trigger of allergies and asthma attacks.

Studies indicate that cockroaches may even cause asthma in children.

Allergens build up in deposits of droppings, secretions, cast skins, and dead bodies of roaches.

American cockroaches are often found in kitchen / food processing areas, sewers and basements, particularly around pipes and drains.

To minimize the chance of a cockroach infestation:

• Keep your home or work area clean by vacuuming, keeping food sealed away and removing garbage from the area.
• Seal cracks where cockroaches can enter.
